“Iterations” Opening and exhibit tours

What is an original work of art? How can a painting transform when it’s in a different medium? Or the same image transform when made by a different artist? This summer we explore these questions and more with an exhibit at the New Bedford Free Public Library titled Iterations. From James Smillie’s engraving after Albert Bierstadt’s “The Rocky Mountains, Lander’s Peak,” to to Clement Nye Swift’s finished study for Une Epave, this show will include a variety of artworks and, when possible, the pieces that inspired them. On view all summer in partnership with DATMA’s Transform 2024. Tours with the curator will begin in the Art Room at 5PM and 6PM
