Join WHALE and the Rotch-Jones-Duff House Museum & Gardens as we bring back the Living the Old House Dream series for AHA! Preservation Celebration on May 14. This encore presentation features homeowner and preservation enthusiast Laura Parrish, who will share how she took on historic home restoration projects without a formal background—guided by her belief that “if I can, you can,” and the power of community.
Laura will highlight her restoration of “The Whalehouse” at 100 Madison Street, a historic property originally built during New Bedford’s whaling era and later connected to Herman Melville. She’ll also share updates on her current work at Crowell Farm in Sagamore and new preservation initiatives.
Historic homes can be unique, charming, beautiful, and intimidating maintenance and restoration projects. At this talk, hear from an expert about best practices, processes, and resources and gain insight into preserving an older home. Free, Part of Preservation AHA!
