Mary Vaux Walcott’s North American Wild Flowers, published in 1925 by the Smithsonian, describes 400 flowering plant species with poetic descriptions and illustrations. This exhibit showcases those illustrations, each a print reproduction of the author’s watercolor drawing, with a select group of our earliest spring wildflowers. Delicate blue “Quakerladies” and bizarrely shaped “Dutchman’s Breeches” herald the start of a new season in New England, so stop by to see them in the library’s 3rd floor gallery before you find them on your next nature walk!
