Gallery X

Founded in 1990 by graduates of the former Swain School of Design Gallery X is a nonprofit, community art gallery and performance space made up of visual artists, performers, musicians, and patrons. We seek to promote and stimulate artistic awareness in New Bedford by creating a welcoming and accessible space for artists and performers of all backgrounds to exhibit and perform. We organize approximately 18-20 exhibitions a year including numerous themed, open-call, community exhibitions as well as host countless events and performances by musicians, comedians, and other cultural groups.

Housed in the historic First Universalist Church building, Gallery X features a gift shop with work by local artists, two gallery spaces totaling 3500 square feet of exhibition and performance space, a band/music room for rehearsals, and is fully handicap accessible.
